COMMON 3, Paulsgrove 0
On the occasion of his fiftieth CCFC 1st Team appearance, skipper DAN HANSFORD chose to net his first goal
of the campaign during an uplifting victory over Paulsgrove at The Park.

Curtis Osborne's side registered The Club's first win over Paulsgrove since April 13th, 2010 when Dean Higgins, Rich Lang and Liam Magee netted in a 3-1 success.
The latest victory, 3-0, was notable also because it included our first clean sheet since we defeated Stockbridge 1-0 on August 12. ....Crumbs, all these landmarks....
Paulsgrove started brightly and contrived to put the home defence - with Sam Treadaway back in goal to cover for the unwell Alex Huxford - under some pressure up to the edge of the 18-yard box but often their choice of final ball was poor. Common's defensive unit of the outstanding Brandon Diaper, impressive Jamie Kerkhoff, dominant Dan Hansford and safe Sam Dixon coped comfortably with Paulsgrove's perceived threat and it was Common who broke the deadlock on 12 minutes (Yours Truly was shopping for milk) when a fine strike from LUKE DAWKINS netted his sixth of the campaign.
Mo Aslami and Louis Baldacchino worked tirelessly in midfield to cover good movement from the visitors but that 'good movement' too often fell foul of a mis-placed pass or wayward shot. Meanwhile Common were contriving chances themselves with Scott Challis at the centre of most as Harry Barrett (more and more impressive as time goes by), Aiden Reed and Luke Dawkins sought opportunities to provide the defence-splitting ball.
Half time 1-0
After the break and with Paulsgrove going down the slope, you sensed more urgency from the visitors but still their choices were poor. A strong claim for a Paulsgrove penalty came to nothing (Common were relieved) before DAN HANSFORD nodded home (see above) after some 62 minutes - Luke Dawkins delivery from the corner was exceptional. 2-0.
Paulsgrove were deflated and Common boosted. Some ten minutes later Louis Baldacchino and Scott Challis worked an opportunity for Aiden Reed to release HARRY BARRETT who strode onto the ball and netted from 16 yards - 3-0.
Will Hindmarsh and Jayda Chiutare both appeared off the bench (replacing Aiden Reed - full of ManFlu - and the inspired Scott Challis). Paulsgrove were decidedly disconcerted and pushed downhill to try and reap some reward. One penalty claim was turned down but another was upheld with some ten minutes remaining.
A visiting goal would, perhaps, prove a catalyst but it was not to be as their no. 10 blasted the ball over Sam's bar - as per piccy below.
Sam was having an inspired game between the sticks and deserves recognition for that (Oh, and he would have saved the penalty too if it were on target!
Common ultimately ran out 3-0 victors to bury the memory of the previous week and move onward and upward in the table.
